Clouds over Vaux

Some people call this Versailles 1.0. Although Vaux is not a royal palce, it was also designed by Le Notre and there are many features that showed up later in Louis's grand chateau.

I was a little sad we didn't have a blue sky this day, but the looming clouds also make for an interesting landscape. Photo taken in October 2006.

Cathedral of Chartres

Decorative details on the Chartres cathedral in France. Which do you prefer, black and white or sepia?

Red Rocks

This amphitheater outside Denver has hosted many big names from Bob Dylan to Coldplay. It's an interesting place to visit, it's too bad there were no shows while we were there.

Weltmeister

These are the streets of Berlin during the 2006 World Cup. They closed down a portion of one of the main drags and put up giant screens so fans who couldn't get tickets to the matches could still enjoy some football fever. It was great fun. But let's hope Germany does better during this World Cup than the last one.

Snow in Bussy

This was the view from my old apartment in Bussy Saint Georges. It was a booming ville dortoir and I'm sure that field across the way is built up by now. Snow was not a common sight in the Parisian suburbs, so this was a special day.

Photo taken in March 2005.

Rosie's Cafe

This is the place in Lake Tahoe where I had the best pancakes ever. They were special oatmeal pancakes with a light lingonberry topping and a touch of whipped cream. They were not too sweet - just perfect!

Photo taken in April 2008.

Parc Disneyland

A gray sky over Paris is not an uncommon sight. That's why the Imagineers chose this particular hue of pink for Sleeping Beauty Castle. It looks nice and bright, even against the gray. Photo taken in October 2007.

Trevarez

Trevarez Castle in Finistere, Bretagne. The red brick structure is not typical of the region, but it's a gorgeous structure. The gardens are also magnificent. Each spring they host an azalea/rhododendron festival - it's spectacular!

Photo taken in June 2000 with an old point-and-shoot and scanned.
