True love

This is the motto of the Dortmund football club: True Love. The fans really are quite loyal. More signs can be found here. Photo taken in June 2016.

Dortmund pilgrimage

Dortmund is well-known for their football (soccer) team. Thousands of people make the pilgrimage here each year to visit the famed Signal Iduna Park.

It's pretty much impossible to get tickets to a game, but I at least got to take a stadium tour.

I'll show you more of the stadium and its "backstage" during the week! Photos taken in June 2016.

Looking up

Modern architecture was also a part of the shopping scene in Dortmund. This glass dome was graced with lights that changed colors every few minutes.

It's part of the Hansa Carre shopping center. This seal was planted in the floor at exactly the middle point of the cupola. More signs can be found at Signs, Signs. Photos taken in July 2016.

The Hustler

I found this large scale mural in Dortmund when I was visiting earlier this summer.

It's so big, it wouldn't all fit on one take! I love all the color and just the sheer size of it! Visit Monday Mural for more murals. Photo taken in July 2016.

A slight bit of color graces the skies above the German city of Dortmund. More skies can be found at Skywatch. Photo taken in July 2016.

Oktoberfest: Trachtenumzug

Villages and towns from all over the state of Bavaria participate proudly in the annual Trachten Umzug  at Oktoberfest. I was really impressed with the parade. Each group wears the traditional costume of their village. There were also plenty of marching bands, flag bearers and horsemen. I'll post more in the week to come. Photo taken in September 2015.

Scaffolding and benches

This is an outside view of the Fountain Room at Maulbronn Abbey. It was being restored when I visited but I have a feeling I'll be back here someday. Photo taken in March 2014.

Looking out

More details from the Maulbronn Abbey. The painted ceilings were gorgeous, unfortunately the light inside was low and my photos don't do it justice. Photo taken in March 2014.

Maulbronn fountain

This fountain is at the heart of the Maulbronn Abbey. Apparently the original monks decided to build on this site because of the amazingly clean and fresh water they found here. Photo taken in March 2014.
