The view from our hotel room in Ubud, Bali. The city was made famous by Elizabeth Gilbert's book, Eat, Pray, Love. It was one of my favorite stops on our tour of Southeast Asia. I'd love to go back someday. Photo taken in December 2016.

Crystal reflections
Just look up and you'll see these colorful crystals reflected many times over in the golden ceiling of the Galaxy casino in Macau. More reflections can be found here. Photo taken in November 2016.

Lavish location
The casinos and adjacent hotels in Macau make Las Vegas pale in comparison. The decoration and spectacles are over-the-top with glitz and glam.

Home of HAL
The Hotel New York is actually the former Holland American Line building. This is where the cruise line got its start. There were lots of interesting details throughout the building.
The Holland American Line initials could also be seen quite often. For more treasures, take a look here. Photos taken in May 2016.

Another Art Deco beauty
This hotel along South Beach was in the middle of a makeover. I'm glad to see these beautiful buildings are being maintained. Photo taken in December 2015.

The hotel sign that gave yesterday's scene it's blue cast. You can see more signs here. Photo taken in October 2015.

Corner spot
This beautiful chandelier hangs above the bar inside the Intercontinental Hotel in Vienna. I spent some good times looking up at it! Photo taken in May 2015.

Palmer House lobby
It's hard to get a really good shot inside the lobby of the Palmer House hotel, so please excuse the lack of precise focus. I just wanted to show how grand of a waiting area it is.
Everything seems to be bathed in a golden light and there's so much detail on the walls and ceiling. If you're in Chicago, it's worth a peek inside! Photo taken in August 2012.

Peacock doorway
This opulent doorway is not used anymore, but if you go to either side of it, you'll find yourself in the main lobby of the historic Palmer House Hotel in downtown Chicago. The hotel is now part of the Hilton chain, but that's okay with me since they have kept this gem in perfect condition. It's a treat even just to sit in the lobby and soak up all the atmosphere! Boca Resort by day
This lovely lady greets guests at the entrance of the Boca Raton Resort. I've shown you this fountain before by night. Photo taken in January 2009. Hope you enjoy this bonus fountain shot!

Night view
And now for the best view at all... the night time!
I'd like to dedicate this series to Louis la Vache from San Francisco Daily Photo. His series of photos from his balcony inspired me to take these pictures from our hotel room.

Hot springs
You can't see it well from this photo, but there was steam rising off these pools at the Roman Spa Resort. The coolest was a nice 94 degrees Fahrenheit. All the water was pumped in from a local hot spring. Bathing here was delicious. If you're ever in Calistoga, give it a try!
