Traditional worship

This was a place where people could come and pray inside the Xihui Park. There were monks in charge of the upkeep and plenty of spots to burn some incense. There were lots of beautiful buildings like this inside the park.

Hot pot

We had a traditional hot pot dinner with our Chinese colleagues in Wuxi. It was quite good, although you can't be too squeamish.

City gate

I believe the Chinese put these gates up to keep spirits away. This one was from the streets of Wuxi in November 2008.

A Chinese erhu player and the man who likes to photograph her. This was also taken inside the Xihui Park in Wuxi.

Weekend reflections: Gardens

More from the Xihui Park in Wuxi. It was a very interesting place to visit with so many different things to see - gardens, villas, a monastery... The only thing it lacked was information in English. Despite not really knowing what I was looking at, I enjoyed it!

Well of never-ending joy (or something)

I can't remember the exact name of this well, but it was something having to do with happiness or joy, I think. It was found inside the Xihui Park and apparently is a big tourist draw (for the Asian visitors at least). I can say I saw it too!
