Saint Matthias

This is the Saint Matthias Catholic church and cemetery in the Tempelhof neighborhood of Berlin. It's not far from where my mother-in-law lives. Photo taken in June 2010.

Salvador de Bahia

Blue skies enhance all of the colorful buildings. This was one of my favorite places on our trip to Brazil a few years back. I loved the mix of African and European cultures and the people were so friendly and interesting. Photo taken in December 2007.

Sans Souci

Sans Souci is somewhat like the Versailles of Germany. It was the summer home of Frederick the Great who was an avid supporter of arts and culture, to the displeasure of his military-loving father. You can read more about the palace here. Photo taken in March 2006.

RER doorway

This was the entrance to the RER station in the town of Bussy St. Georges. It's about 25 km east of Paris, not far from Euro Disney. I lived here for three years and frequented this station quite often! Photo taken in February 2007.

Brazilian donkey

I can never remember how you tell a mule from a donkey, so this guy might actually be a mule. He was seen in the sand dunes in the state of Bahia. Photo taken in January 2007.

Mosque

This is a view on Morocco's largest mosque, the Hasan II. Non-Muslims are not allowed inside, but it was quite a sight from the outside. Photo taken in December 2007.

Crowned

This is the Crown Room in the Schipol Airport in Amsterdam. The lounge is on the second story and the walls are all glass, so you can look down and see all the travelers hustling and bustling through the airport.

We flew through this airport on our way to Berlin back in June. It is one of the nicest crown rooms I've been to and two of those chairs pushed together made a good place to close your eyes for awhile.

I don't think skies get much bluer than this. This is a full frontal view of the Saint Louis Cathedral which graces Jackson Square in New Orleans. That's old Jackson himself riding his horse and waving his hat at you. This photo was taken in September 2010.

Lost balloon

Can you see it? This view of the sky comes to you from the New Orleans airport. I think it's nice when public places take advantage of the natural light. And who would want to miss a view of this blue sky!
