A look at ripe rice. We saw people harvesting in the adjacent field - it's hard, manual labor. More reflections can be found here. Photo taken in December 2016.

Tropical green
More from the Garfield Park Conservatory, something about the pattern and the shades of green on this leaf attracted me. Photo taken in April 2013.

Desert golf
I was happy to find the winter break hasn't affected my game too much. The desert courses are fantastic, I just don't want to think of how much water they must need to maintain it. Photo taken in February 2013.

Saint Laurentius
It's back to Berlin! This is the Saint Laurentius Church in Koepenick - a town on the outskirts of Berlin. I love the red brick against the blue sky and the spindly trees made for some interesting shadows. Saint Laurentius is a Protestant place of worship, named for Saint Lawrence of Rome. Overview
Here's an overview of the Crystal Bridge. You can see the bougainvillea growing down by those railings. In my opinion, it's one of Oklahoma City's best attractions. I took my MiL to visit when she came to town in December 2011.

Awww nuts!
I have never seen coconuts like these before. Perhaps they provided sustenance to the Mayans? For certain, they provided me with a nice photographic subject!

Golfing bench
The Batavia golf course was fantastic to play and what made it even better was the landscaping at each tee box. There were so many beautiful flowers and they were so perfectly arranged, just wonderful! Photo taken in September 2011.

Purple delight
The courtyard of the monastery was filled with floral delight. Every kind of flower you can imagine seemed to be in bloom. I especially liked these purple daisies. Sometimes the simplest blooms can be the most beautiful. Photo taken in May 2011.

Details
Despite being cut back, this tree persists in putting out more branches. I love the details and they look even better in black and white. Photo taken in May 2011. To see more monochrome shots from around the world, visit the Weekend in Black and White.

Light and shadow
Light and shadows on a fern leaf inside the Volcanos National Park in Hilo, Hawaii. It's worth the visit, if you're ever on the island. Photo taken in January 2010.

Saint Paul and the royal poincianna
This is Saint Paul's Episcopal church in downtown Key West. As a bonus, you get a beautiful royal poincianna tree in full bloom! The only thing I would like better is if there wasn't that darn light pole. Photo taken in May 2010.

Winter vines
My husband and I joined a wine club during our recent tour of Napa Valley. It's a small winery that makes wines in the Italian tradition. They only make enough wine to sell to their club members and a little extra on the side. So I guess in a way, these vines are somehow ours too!
