Fighting spirit



This is the Bell P-39 Airacobra, one of the main fighter planes used by the United States during WWII. This one looks pretty fierce. I don't think I'd want to mess around with whoever was operating it! Photo taken in June 2011.

    They tried to scare the enemy with such fierce markings. Maybe the markings helped! Probably not.

    But many of the people who flew these things were genuine heroes!
