Make yourself at home

Fancy a sit? The arrangement does look inviting, although visitors are not actually allowed to sit here. The furniture is unfortunately not original to the palace (most of it was taken by the East or destroyed), but they have borrowed pieces from other castles in order to keep with the period. Photo taken in November 2011.

  3. I like the total colors. Such a soft impression.

  4. I always thought that type of furniture looked so uncomfortable. But then again, I'm not from that era or economic status so what do I know!

  5. It's very pretty in an "old" sort of way. But it doesn't look comfortable at all. I've often wondered how people survived sitting around in hot heavy clothes on clunky, uncomfy chairs! :-)

  6. Stunning photo Halcyon, I don't think they were supposed to enjoy lounging about - stiff back and all that!

  7. Do you know what I most like? The floor, it's gorgeous!

  8. It looks long enough to lie down in.

  9. @TBecque & Lowell - I don't really the furniture looks very comfy (to our modern standards) either, but I suppose back then it was. As Rose said, women wore such restrictive clothing, I don't think they could lounge much anyway.
