Bay Bridge

This is the Golden Gate's lesser known cousin, the Oakland Bay Bridge. I don't know why it's not as famous because it's also a fantastic suspension bridge built in the same time period. It looks especially nice at night.

  2. This is one impressive bridge when you are driving it it is downright scary! That is why it is not at fun! I had no idea it was 2 story and one way...gives the tourist a pause when crossing it....as well as isn't it a toll ? still.... I loved looking at it!

  4. I've driven over it more times than I can count. Still remember when a big chunk of it collapsed during the quake. Beautiful shot.

  5. We drove over the Bay Bridge just after it re-opened after the quake that made part of it fall. The feeling was so eerie, we never went again. It is, however, a beautiful bridge, and you captured a wonderful night shot!

  6. Nicely done ... the Bay Bridge is such a classic, though I suspect many people don't think about it when San Francisco is mentioned.

  7. Neva: My husband and I drove into SF on the bridge. He was driving so it wasn't too bad. I wouldn't have liked to be on the lower deck though. I think that's more scary!

B Squared and Clytie: I can understand your hesitation to take the bridge after such an event. Let's hope there aren't any more shakers like that one for awhile!
