Vietnam's imperial city in Hue was once as big and impressive as the forbidden city of Beijing. Unfortunately, it suffered destruction during the Vietnam War. It is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site and some areas are being restored. Others will remain in their current state. Photo taken in November 2016.
This is a gorgeous photo. Hue was the center of a terrible battle which took a horrible toll on U.S. grunts. Those were not good times.
ReplyDelete...50 some odd years ago, I was trying no to go to Vietnam.
ReplyDeleteAn impressive looking building. It's interesting now that people are going to Vietnam to visit when years ago it was at the center of war. Times change.
ReplyDeleteTimes do change. Fascinating structure!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad it is a heritage site and that at least parts of it are being restored. I suppose it is part of history to leave some of it in its ruined state. So that we don't forget.
