Doorway decay

A decaying doorway in Athens. I was surprised at the amount of general decay I encountered. Photo taken in May 2011.

  1. It's a pity, the door has beautiful iron circles!

  4. It's always rather sad to see a pretty object that is badly cared for. But it makes the ruins picturesque. I don't know why there are so many apparently abandoned buildings in some parts of Greece.

  5. Sad, for sure. But Greece is in so much trouble economically that I'm really not surprised.

  7. An unfortunate sign of the times. Hopefully, prosperity will return and these lovely buildings can be restored.

  8. This shot could have been taken in Romania, too... or one of any number of other European cities.
