Iconic shot

The famous Parthenon in Athens, Greece. It was the second stop on my Mediterranean cruise. Photo taken in May 2011.

  1. This must have been fabulous to see! Greece is where I'm thinking of next. How wonderful that you got this shot with no people in it!

  2. Hee... there were PLENTY of people. I just managed to cut them out a bit. And this is actually the back side of the temple as the front side has scaffolding.

To be honest, I was rather disappointed with Athens. Not what I had built it up to be in my mind. But I'm glad I've seen the acropolis. :)

  3. Iconic indeed. When I travel, I try to avoid expectations. Then I can just react to what I see, rather than what I expected to see. Still would like to see these buildings of antiquity one day.

  4. It's still a lovely photo, however I have similar feelings for Athens!

  5. Que cela fait du bien de voir la Grèce autrement que dans la rubrique économique !

  7. When I was there so many years ago I remember how amazed I was at how huge it was. The photos really can't do it justice.
