You'll find this memorial near the Reichstag in Berlin. It remembers the left and centrist politicians who were murdered or sent to concentration camps for their beliefs during the rise of the Nazi party. Photo taken in November 2011. 1. For a chilling, deeply troubling account of the end of the war as it came to Berlin, British author Antony Beevor's "Berlin - The Downfall - 1945" will enlighten the reader as to just how horrible it was for all involved. Hitlerism was a cult of death.

  2. A powerful shot. I lived through those days but was too young to know what was really going on. As an historian, though, I've spent many hours studying and teaching this particular portion of human history.

Unfortunately, it doesn't seem we learn much...esp. considering today's crop of politicos in the US who think they should be in charge!

  3. a powerful image... may we learn from the past and embrace love and not fear, compassion and not hatred.

Thanks for visiting. I love hearing from you.
