For a chilling, deeply troubling account of the end of the war as it came to Berlin, British author Antony Beevor's "Berlin - The Downfall - 1945" will enlighten the reader as to just how horrible it was for all involved. Hitlerism was a cult of death.
ReplyDeleteA powerful shot. I lived through those days but was too young to know what was really going on. As an historian, though, I've spent many hours studying and teaching this particular portion of human history.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, it doesn't seem we learn much...esp. considering today's crop of politicos in the US who think they should be in charge!
