Before I take you further inside the First United Mehodist Church, I'll take you outside. Here's a look at some of the lovely art deco details that greet you at the entrance. Photo taken in August 2012.
There was a method to their madness! :-) Chicago has some wonderful buildings and this is one of them. I'll be looking forward to seeing the inside! It's also interesting how many Protestant denominations used the name "temple" for their buildings in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
I live in the heart of Baptist country but the Methodists certainly built the most beautiful churches in this area. It looks like they may have done the same thing in the Chicago area!
