Hi again, Hal. Thanks for your comment. The US system of justice leaves a lot to be desired. In the deep south (e.g. Florida), it is skewed in favor of white, well-to-do people. Racism is institutionalized from Tallahassee on down. Ocala and Marion County are noted for ultra-right-wing whackos and racists.
However, the Marion County Sheriff's Department does pull out "trusty" prisoners to work on the roads, golf courses, etc. The department also owns a farm where it raises animals for meat and all sorts of veggies, and is worked by prisoners. In fact, they grow enough food to feed the prisoners in the country jail.
Quite appropriate to render it in black and white.
