Street scene

I've been on a black and white kick with many of my shots from Rochester. Somehow the stone facade here seems to cry out for monochrome. I also like the street lamp. Photo taken in September 2011. To see more monochrome shots from around the world, visit the Weekend in Black and White.

  1. I really like the contrast between the two buildings - the rugged, rough stone texture as opposed to that smooth, concrete look. And they b&w works well.

Have a great weekend! Play lots of golf!

  2. I agree that much of Rochester would look very good in B&W. Hmmm. I'll have to remember that next time we visit family in Upstate NY.

  4. I agree with your comments on the b/w. The texture of the wall contrasts with the building beyond and the lamp shape is featured better in b/w. Very nice!

  6. I love stone walls like that, and the roughness contrasts so well with the newer building and the neat lines on the ground.
