Chauve souris

I don't recall the exact name of these bats, but let's call them "little tree bats". I saw these during our cruise on the Old Belize river. Check back tomorrow for more interesting wildlife! Photo taken in December 2011.

  1. I thought bats went and hid in dark places during daylight hours. Maybe not along the Old Belize river. Or maybe I'm just going batty!

  2. How great to see bats and to get such a good picture of them. We went to Belize years ago and loved it -- Thanks for the memories!

  3. @Lowell - I also thought bats were creatures of the night, but not this type apparently. One little boy got too close when he was taking pictures and they flew away. :)
