The Hotel New York is actually the former Holland American Line building. This is where the cruise line got its start. There were lots of interesting details throughout the building.
The Holland American Line initials could also be seen quite often. For more treasures, take a look here. Photos taken in May 2016.
Very attractive staircase and lightstand. Looks great in black and white!
ReplyDeleteA beautiful building. Strangely the first thing I thought of was the computer HAL in 2001.
ReplyDeleteYou gotta wonder what the HAL is going on here ! Great find, Hal!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a joy to see this historic place
ReplyDeleteI've heard of the Holland American Line, but never gave it much mind. The iron work on the stair case is wonderful. Thanks for joining Tuesday's Treasures, enjoy your week and please stop back again.
ReplyDeleteOh, and at first it was your home, Hal!

Beautiful details. Love the staircase.
It's neat that they kept the decor.
ReplyDeleteMy thought was just like Willism's above. I thought of the computer HAL. I just learned recently, most people may know. HAL came from one letter down in IBM.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great architectural find! I would love to roam around inside taking photos, but I'm assuming one is not allowed to do that. But this has inspired me to think about making a "train trip" (versus "road trip") into the city, for an architectural photo stroll.
