Rather small

Treetop paradise

Top of the tree

Some people say the Cube Houses look like trees. I can kind of see it, especially when you get up to the very top.

It was nice and sunny and the brightly striped ceiling was a funny touch. Photos taken in May 2016.

A look inside

One of the Cube Houses is open to the public for a small entrance fee. This is the living room, complete with the original built-in furniture. I love the windows, but there's not a lot of space for entertaining.

And here's a look at the bedroom. The furniture here is also original. The houses all came with built-in items as it would be difficult to furnish the strangely shaped rooms otherwise. Photos taken in May 2016.

Innovative architecture

The Cube Houses are one of Rotterdam's most iconic sights. Though they are quite interesting to look at, they're not very practical on the inside. Photo taken in May 2016.

Going down

You might not be able to tell, but this is an old escaltor with real wooden stairs! It was a long way down to the Maastunnel. 

Here's how it looks for pedestrians; cyclists have a separate tunnel. I didn't walk the entire span, but I found it quite interesting. There is a similar tunnel in Hamburg that I visited not so long ago. For more treasures, take a look here. Photo taken in May 2016.

Under the sea

This mythical scene greets people coming up from Rotterdam's Maastunnel. It's an easy way for pedestrians and cyclists to cross the Maas river. For more murals, take a look here. Photo taken in May 2016.

A landmark

One of Rotterdam's most well-known sites is Markthal. It's a multi-use space with food stalls and shops on the inside as well as residential and office space that lines the outside. End homelessness

This looks like parking meter, but it isn't. It's a piggy bank for the homeless! Passers-by in Miami Beach are invited to drop in a few coins to help end homelessness in the city. A very nice idea!
