Life on the mighty Mekong

I took a daytrip from Saigon to the Mekong Delta. One day is really not enough to really get to see it all, but at least to get a taste of life on the river.

Houses are built to withstand changes in the water level. The river can rise and fall several meters during the rainy season.

There are also floating markets. Most of what's available is fruits, vegetables and the like. This woman had apples on offer.

Photos taken in November 2016.

  3. As I've mentioned before, most of what I've seen of Vietnam comes from the Vietnam War so I really appreciate viewing your beautiful photos of the way of life in that country...

Did you find your comment? I always post them although at my age, I might have missed one accidentally.

  5. Wonderful photos of different way of life. The floating market is incredible and involves skill to maneuver up and down the river.

  8. These places have names I was so used to hearing on the news way back when I was young. It's interesting to see them through your lens. Those houses look like a good wind would take them down.
