Mosque doorway

I did not visit the inside of this mosque, but there were people outside encouraging visitors to come in if they wished to. I must admit, I've never been inside this type of house of worship as typically they do not allow non-believers inside. It has a lovely doorway in any case. Photo taken in May 2011.

  2. Turkey? A place I would love to visit for the food and the culture... the history. Beautiful architecture and colors in this shot.

  3. Thanks for this. I don't think I've ever seen the doorway of a mosque up close ... looks like there are places for people to sit ... maybe to take off their shoes?

The door itself is quite intricate and I'd be interesting in knowing what is on those plaques or posters on either side of it...

  4. Too bad you didn't go in... mosques can be stunningly beautiful, and judging from this door, this one would be.
