This bridge takes you over the mighty Mississippi on I-10. We crossed it when traveling eastbound on our way home from Austin, Texas. It was a very impressive old truss bridge.

Impressive, indeed - nice perspective in this shot, Halcyon.

It´s an amazing perspective
ReplyDeleteGreat job!

J'adore ce genre de ponts et de photos, ça me donne tellement envie de prendre le volant aux USA !
ReplyDeleteLove the massive steel girders on this bridge
ReplyDeleteI love steel bridges, they look so sturdy! This must be the I-10 coming from the west.
ReplyDeleteMighty bridge as well... :)
ReplyDeleteGod bless you!

Been there, done that, too. Is I-10 fixed up a little in Louisiana? For the last 25 years it has been a terrible mess that rends your car into a bucket of bolts.
ReplyDeleteIt's always a thrill to cross the Mississippi. Such an iconic river in our history. And with a fascinating variety of bridges that cross its span. Thanks for using the word "truss". I knew there had to be a better description than "erector set," which is all I could think of. LOL.
ReplyDeleteI am so loving seeing all these bridges taking us over mighty and mini rivers.
ReplyDeleteI've crossed that bridge myself! And if you stay west on it, it'll take you right into Tucson!
ReplyDeletePS - It was not the Mad Magazine guy in my photo (although I see why you said this), it was President Obama!
Very impressive shot, a maze of metal.
ReplyDeleteGreat capture.
i love truss bridges! they're the most amazing thing when i was a kid.:p marvelous shot!
ReplyDeleteOk, it's been said... but as I read your words, my thoughts were, "an impressive shot of it!" So there. Nice you had a blue sky to contrast the gray steel.
ReplyDeleteJacob: All the roads in Louisiana are TERRIBLE. They will blow out your tires and mess up your alignment. My husband and I hate driving through there, but we don't have much choice when we want to visit family in Texas and Oklahoma.
ReplyDeleteOakland DP: I actually only knew this was a "truss" bridge b/c I looked it up online before posting. :)
Everyone: Thanks for all of your kind words. I enjoy Louis' bridge series. I think it's helping to bridge communities the world round. :D
Truss bridge? OK, I still have much to learn about bridges. :)
ReplyDeleteAwesome perspective!
