Loire Valley castles: Angers

I have decided to feature castles from the Loire Valley all week. The first one comes to you from Angers. This is actually a view from inside the walls, the original structure dates back to Medieval times, but additions to the interior were made over the years. Photo taken in November 2002.

  1. Gorgeous! I remember a huge poster of a chateau at the Loire Valley by night I had in my bedroom when I was a teenager. Maybe it was this one. :-)

  2. I cannot imagine how many castles there are in the Loire Valley but they are all amazing in different ways... I would love to see beyond the tall windows for what looks like a church but is probably a grand hall.

  3. A few years ago I took a bicycle trip in the Loire Valley and visited many castles. It was my second time in the Loire Valley, but Angers is a castle I missed both times. This week's series should be fun for me to see.

  6. Now I'm envious. I've heard of some of the castles of the Loire Valley but have never visited. I find them utterly amazing! Nice shot here with great light - late afternoon, probably?
