Loire Valley castles: Chenonceaux


Chenonceaux is also known as the Chateau des Dames. It's an architectural jewel of the Renaissance and has a very rich history. Photo taken in November 2002.

  2. A very beautiful pic! Love castles too;o)
    And I've just brought some pics of Chenonceaux taken from the other bank of the Loire! We didn't visit it because we had visited Chambord and we arrived half an hour before the end of the visits!
    Will post my castles pics later;o)

  4. When I lived in France, I did several castle tours when people came to visit. This one was always top on the list. It's one of my favorites. I'll show more views of it next week. But the most amazing thing is part of this castle is actually built over the river.

  7. Yes, this is one of the best chateaux. The more typical shots are from the side. I was here in 1983 and again in 2006.
